Answer:
It depends on the toothpaste. I use a prescription strength toothpaste that contains a higher level of fluoride than over the counter toothpaste. I do not rinse because I have significant decalcification. (Pregnancy was awful on my teeth). However, most toothpastes you do want to rinse. Warm, hot, or cool water is just a personal preference. Use what you can tolerate on your abscess. Just please get it taken care of soon!!
You should spit out the tooth paste, you do not want to swallow it, tooth paste contains flouride to make your teeth stronger, however if you swallow it you will have a stomach ache. As for wetting your tooth brush prior to brushing is up to you, also warm or cold water, some people have more sensitive teeth. I prefer to wet my brush prior to brushing because I find the tooth paste foams much better, however it can become quite a mess in the bathroom.
you should rinse because long exposure to fluroide can weaken your teeth and affect your health
Rinse the toothpaste out of your mouth when you finish brushing your teeth. You can use warm or cold water before applying toothpaste, whatever you prefer. Abscess is very dangerous and the infection can run into your blood stream... can lead to death. Take it as you will... just make sure ur mom knows that you have one! Brushing your teeth, flossing, or using listerine will not make or help it go away.
the dentist i work for tells all of our patients who have absesses that they should brush their teeth regularly and wetting the toothbrush first with warm to hot water..its better to wet it before brushing, u should also rinse with warm water afterward to wash toothpaste residue away..feel better:)
