Tooth filing?

i have heard of filing one's teeth. my two front teeth are a bit uneven and it would make a big difference if i could file one. is this a big procedure or simple? does it cost a lot of money or what.
Answer:
Bad Idea! The enamel is the only 'dead' substance that the body produces and it is only a millimeter thick in spots. If the enamel is filed away, the the main body of the tooth, which is made of dentin, and is living tissue, is exposed to bacteria and so, caries (tooth decay) will result.Easier to do orthodontics to move the tooth or to have a crown put in.
are you paying cash or do you have insurance? the dentist will use what is called a "composite filling" which is tooth colored. they will match the shade of your front teeth to a chart and then pick the right shade for you. if the teeth are uneven they will add the composite material probably without a shot given. in any case..it is not painful and you will be smiling again very soon with your new teeth. about cost, depending on the tooth surface and how many surfaces they do, anywhere from depending where you live and how much the dentist charges...one surface about $65.00, two surface about $90.00 and up from there. please note that if the filling material is placed on your front teeth you really need to be CAREFUL how you eat as far as biting into things like an apple, a grinder or anything hard cause you can break off the material. the dds will explain things to you. hope this was helpful to you. don't worry everything will be just fine and you will luv your new smile. have a great day :)
no filing of the tooth, if the dentist thinks composite will help he will do it.
