when i was younger i had a white filling, a lot of people get crowns, silver and gold fillings etc. but i want what i had back then coz its lasted about 10 years. do they still do this and how expensive is it? what type of filling do you think it was.
Answer:
It's called a resin filling and yes they still do them. The silver fillings are called amalgam. They have become very controversial because of the mercury content in them. Many people have complained that they have experienced mercury poisoning from amalgam fillings. The following link gives details about the different types of filling available.
It should be fine, they still do them and not as expensive as gold! I have them, about 拢80. I think
You can get a white filling. They usually charge more for those fillings. And insurance doesn't usually cover the whole cost because it's cosmetic. It's colored to match the color of your teeth.
I prefer white filling, also it could be safer than the other.
white fillings are more expensive than the usual NHS ones. Make sure you tell your dentist in advance that you want a white one as they match the colour to your tooth, if you just tell them on the day of your filling they may not be able to do a white one. I had a white one a while back and it cost me 拢90, it would normally cost just under 拢30 for a silver NHS one, but i think the extra money is worth it as your smile is important
Its called a composite resin but dentists will refer to it as a white filling also, slightly more expensive than a mercury based amalgam one but worth it. Approx 60 - 100 pound, depends how big the filling is and the quality of dentist.
well white fillings can be composite or glass ionomer(gic) fillings . composite fillings are still being done yes its costlier as compared to amalgam , but cheaper than gold ones.
but life n strength of amalgam and gold fillings is more as compared to composites .
