how bad is it really is or is not bad at all?
Answer:
They will numb you. You shouldn't feel pain, but there is some pressure felt. By the time you are feeling the pressure the tooth is out. Very quick if the tooth doesn't break. Take some head phones and music with you. Not hearing the noises may help keep you relaxed. Good luck.
It is not bad at all. My son had 2 teeth pulled around 10 AM in January of this year and by noon that same morning he was out eating a chicken tenders meal at a restaurant with me. By 2 PM he was in the orthodontist chair getting the brackets put back on for his braces where they had just pulled the teeth that morning.
I have had 8 teeth pulled. Four for my braces when I was a teenager, and then all 4 of my wisdom teeth as a young adult.I had novacaine for the 4 permanent teeth and didn't feel a thing. The worst part was hearing the noises.I was under anesthetic for the wisdom teeth because they had to actually cut two of them out.If you can afford it and have a high level of anxiety, I strongly suggest you find a good oral surgeon (rather than your regular dentist) and have them put you under. Yes, there is always risk with any anesthetic, but you are under such a short time, it's definitely minimal in this case. There are also dentists/oral surgeons who offer anti-anxiety medication in addition to the novacaine for pain. You can all but sleep through the procedure if you need to.The bottom line is that it doesn't hurt. Probably the grossest thing is the big holes in your mouth for a few days after, but they heal very quickly.
Depends on why you are getting it pulled. if it's wisdom teeth (all 4) can be tough, if it's a cracked tooth or one that is not infected it can be generally easy. If there is infection it's a little more serious. Also depending on the location of the tooth, the procedure will change. Upper jaw molers are harder to remove due to them being so close to your sinuses. Typically yo go to a special surgery center for that (I know because I had it done). Others can usually be done in office. I was able to eat solids about 5 hours after both procedures I had (though it's NOT recommended) and you will experience discomfort (my root canal one I didn't even take pain meds because it didn't hurt at all). Nothing to worry about. They numb you up really good for the procedure itself (unless your like me and ask to get knocked out).
